Anchorman (2004) for me, is one of the funniest movies ever. The one-liners, the cameos and Will Ferrel and others made it simply hilarious. The news that a sequel was in the make made me smile with anticipation. Then the trailer appeared:
It doesn’t reveal much. Actually… it doesn’t reveal anything except for the fact that the channel four news team will be complete (No Veronice Corningstone yet though). I’m glad that those four are back, but here some other things that I would like to see:
John C. Reilly as the villain
If there will be such a part as “the villain”. I hope it’s him. He has proven that he has great chemistry with Will Ferrel and Adam McKay in Talladega Nights (2006) and Step Brothers (2008) and it helps that he is a very funny guy. Maybe he could be the owner of a rival news station trying to sabotage channel 4 working together with Vince Vaughn’s character.
A Buttload of Cameo’s
Like in the first one I hope one after the other funny celebrity appears. I would love to see Will Arnet as a crazy beggar or Donald Glover as Ron burgundy’s biggest fan. What about Nick Offerman, Amy Poehler or Richard Ayoade who was great in The IT Crowd. They don’t all have to be pure comedian actors, we saw Tim Robbins being pretty funny in the first one so why not throw someone unexpected in there? Someone established like Tommy Lee Jones or relatively new such as Jeremy Renner could be good. Also don’t forget to put Ken Jeong in there, he always makes me laugh.
In the first one they had Afternoon Delight but that was on a small scale. Why not end the second movie with a bang with everyone singing and dancing in the most ridiculous and unexpected ways. This propbably won’t be such a popular idea but I would love it. To remind you, here’s Afternoon Delight.
The girl who uses her sexuality to tear the group apart. Doesn’t sound good? I don’t care, look at her!
Seriously though, she did a pretty good job in The Other Guys (2010) and would love to see her play in another Adam McKay movie.
Steve Carell has become a big star since the first Anchorman and will probably take up more screen time this time around. I don’t care, he was one of the best things about the movie. Maybe he could get a little storyline of his own? He could search for the toilet store or we could see him eating a lava lamp.
What would you guys like to see in Anchorman 2?
